The original "Don't Lose The Groove" was written by me and my friend Christian Beach in 1990, back when we were listening to a lot of Front 242, Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. The original (which you can listen to at http://www.box.net/shared/o2x3cz9g17 ) featured samples of a woman screaming and the vocals were a bit more violent than they may seem here. However, the lyrics feature anti-violence sentiments, among other things. The anger comes from living in this world where there are so many problems when, really, life would be so much easier if we could all just get along and treat each other with respect. The title came from something that was said while working on another song and the phrase stuck with me. I just felt it fit with this song, though. The thinking is that all of humanity should be moving to the groove, but when people lose the groove, it messes everything up -- much like a record skipping when the needle loses the groove. Hence, if so many of us didn't lose the groove, things wouldn't be as messed up as they are. I brought this song into the present to enter the Sam Ash/Talent Trove Electronica competition in August 2009. It's all done in GarageBand on my MacBook, using my Alesis QS-6.1 as a MIDI controller. Except for that stock sound effect in the first measure of the song (it also appears two other times), everything you hear was played manually into GarageBand. No stock drum, bass or synth loops for me...I just don't like using them. Again, this isn't really my type of music anymore, but I figured I should do something with all of these old techno/industrial songs from my past. So here you go...enjoy.

By the way, here's a link to the original 1990 version of "Don't Lose the Groove" as recorded by me and Christian Beach (http:www.christianbeach.net):http://www.box.net/index.php?rm=box_v2_mp3_player_shared&node=f_319449608&single_file=1

Thanks for the comments. I guess my techno/electronic stuff will always sound a bit retro since I haven't been into that kind of music, really, for a number of years now...although I have been listening to Passion Pit a lot lately. But even their sound is a bit of a throwback. I think I'm going to edit the song description above at some point and include a link to the original version of DLTG. We thought it was so great at the time, but now it's laughable.
