As you can probably guess, the crew here at talenttrove has a ton up their sleeve. however, i bet there are a bunch of new features that some of us haven't even thought of yet.

So give us your ideas and we'll try our hardest to get your ideas up and running.

One idea that would make the site just that much more convenient would for every time you go to change some profile information (or input anything in any type of message field) and you happen to miss something that is required, the fields you previously typed in doesn't disappear.. It's a slight inconvenience when that happens. So far, I'm getting along with it since I copy everything before I move on. Most of the time when I do that, I see what I may have missed before..

Another suggestion or thought would be to place the files sizes and file types allowed on the page that you do the uploading on (when the "Browse" button appears). Being that I have FireFox, I can use tabs to go look up the information I need to remember what types of files I am allowed to use. This would be especially a great convenience for those newbies out there (like me!).

One last little suggestion.. Place a separate link to the Message Board control panel in an obvious place that is easy to find.. I still haven't found where it's at..

Hmm.. Remembered something else.. Why is all the upload file names as "Videos"? Why not call them simply "Files"? Just my personal preference..

Hey Dacheleigh...

First an foremost, thanks for posting. The more ideas we get from users, the better our site becomes. The better our site becomes, the more users we get. More users? More talent scouts. And we all know what that means: more of you guys getting discovered.

So thank you in advance and keep it coming.

Let me try to bang out these questions one-by-one.

As for retaining information in forms, which ones are the most troublesome for you? i.e., Control Panel? Upload? etc.

As for the file limits, I'll put that on my task list tomorrow.

As for the control panel, it's actually no where right now. The debate is on whether or not to switch to a new forums engine (homemade is a viable but time consuming option) or continue with these and integrate the control panel in our edit settings page. We'll keep you updated, but with so much under the radar on this site (some HUGE things that i just want to blurt out but I can't ) the team here can only do so much at one time.

I'll also give you a little history about ttrove. The reason you see "Videos" everywhere is because when we launched, we were strictly a video sharing site. (we had images too, but barely ) I, as an amateur musician, despite decent stage presence, not always liked the video camera in my face. Yada yada, won't bore you. So we came up with audio uploads last month or so almost as a joke just to see what happens. Well it took talenttrove.com by storm. It turned into a rush project and everyone loved it. Took off so fast that a lot of the stuff here still says video this and video that. I know where most of them are, but could always use help finding ones I may have missed.

None-the-less, keep the suggestions coming; nothing is neither far-fetched nor too simple for us to tackle. So let us know.

Ah.. Now that clears things up a bit.. So the audio section is a new thing then? Definitely keep it there.. :p And of course I'm going to say that since that's where my talent lies..

For a message board, if you go at it on your own with the staff, you need to make sure it competes with all the other message boards out there such as VBulletin, IPB, PHPBB, ect.. OR, an option would be to purchase one of those boards and go "customization crazy" with them.. :p I've worked with all three and the one I liked the most was IPB. VBulletin is good, but it's not the easiest to get around in IMO.. IPB has the features and is user-friendly both with regular members and staff members. If you decide to go at it on your own, ya' gotta' make it at least close to the user-friendliness as the others out there.. But, that's a decision for you all staff to make.. :p I'm just the "suggester"..

As for the text disappearing in the forms, the only places I've been in the control panel is where the audio uploading is at, and the main preferences or control panel to change personal information (where the bulletin is located). If I'm missing information in that box, it's a little annoying to re-type it all back in since there's a lot of information in those fields.. :p I've tried to upload an image (still processing after over a week for some reason, dunno why), but that part wasn't too bad. It's short enough that I didn't miss anything on the first try.. :p

I don't remember if I mentioned this before or not since I'm typing you a book here (lol), but my personal preference for the minimum character count on titles of files uploaded is a bit long.. Come to think of it, I think I did mention that.. But I just went into the audio upload section to try to remember what I was going to say here and remembered about the titles.. :p

OK, since I've given you a bunch of stuff to think over with changes, here's what I do like.. I do like the way the list is set up for each page that the upload information is on.. Nice plus there.. I do like the view of categories (video, image, audio, text) that shows up when you hit upload talent.. That's rather nice.. I do like the option to either view your control panel or view your actual page.. You'd be surprised how many sites leave that bit of info out.. It's annoying too.. :p I think MySpace even used to leave that out. I do like the overall layout of profile views.. Also with that center stage thing.. That was a good idea.. The bulletin thing was a nice add too since members can be notified when something new is happening with an artist.. That's just a great Convenience there.. I especially like how members can post feedback even if you're not a contact/friend of that member.. The feedback on each individual upload was cool too. Instead of referring to it in the main section, you can just post about it directly.. That's a good thing.. I also like how it's called Feedback instead of Comments.. Gives members a chance to critique your stuff and is more likely to do so..

Soo.. That's just a small list of the "pluses" for the site.. Just so you know the pluses out-weigh the negatives, which is a good thing.. Very nice job with the overall setup of things. Props to all the staff involved..

*You mentioned about where the all the "videos" text were located.. I know for sure in the audio uploads section, and I think it's in the image uploads section as well.. I haven't been to the other upload sections since I don't have anything of that sort to upload.. :p

Just had another thought.. Whichever type of message board you choose, it would be nice to have all the extra modifications added like Fast Reply, Quick Edit, and the advanced view for typing replies in the full reply form (like, when you highlight the text and press "B", you see it as bold instead of [ b ] ). Those features always were nice features.. Oh yeah, and a ShoutBox would be cool too, but you may need additional Moderators to take on that job..
