10 Quick Acting Audition Tips

I've talked to some people who are in the "know" and compiled a short list of acting audition tips to help you land that big role in the next blockbuster movie.

  1. Don't make excuses why things aren't going your way
  2. Always go for an early audition. Fresh minds equal reasonable minds.
  3. Always bring your portfolio (headshots and resume).
  4. When asked a question, make a choice. Don't say, "Doesn't matter" or "I don't know".
  5. Look presentable, be personable and be prepared, you only get one chance.
  6. Provide your email address on your resume and back of headshots for easy access.
  7. Memorize your lines or read off from the script. DON'T pretend to know and make it up as you go!
  8. Always be comfortable, charismatic and confident, you're a STAR!
  9. The show must go on. In the wake of a mistake, there's no starting over, keep going!
  10. Use auditions for roles that you aren't interested in getting to practice your skills and relieve your nerves.

That's it. Easier said than done I know, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Just remember. The people you're auditioning for want you to be great. They need a good actor. They don't know who it is or else they wouldn't be having an open casting call. Become the character they want. Someone else could be more qualified, but they might not fit the part. You never know, it might be you!
